The Redheaded Rambler
Tonight we’re gonna party like its 1999!

So tonight I am off to the hottest theme party in LA the DTLA 90’s Prom Party being thrown by LA Canvas Magazine. And guess who’s on the list? The Red Rambler that’s who! See ya lata!

A good friend of mine is showing her work at this event this friday every who is everyone should check it out since she is insanely talented. Plus other amaze artists are showing too. Click the link to read more about it. The show is called “Looking Glass”

So I haven’t recommended a book in a while because generally all the books I’ve read most of my friends have already read…. and they are nerdy sci fi fantasy books. But here’s one that I can fully get behind.
Laurie Notaro’s The Idiot Girls’ Action Adventure Club is hilarious. This book crosses all sorts of the lines I love to cross when it comes to whats funny including but not limited to puking when nervous, being confused with a homeless person, ignoring dental problems until your face is swollen and frozen in place, getting pulled over for being drunk when not drunk but not being pulled over when you are and just generally sharing things my mother always told me your not supposed to tell people.
Also this book makes me feel a whole shitload better about my life. So what I don’t have a real job in my mid twenties and I’m living off of cereal bars! Laurie Notaro was once given a bag lunch from a lady on her way to court because they thought she was homeless when she was my age and now she is a published author! I’m doing fine…. In other words this books is a big dose of schadenfreude. And if you don’t know that word google it or go see Avenue Q.

Crochet you say?

Or if you didn’t you soon will be! I am super stoked that crochet is coming back in style big time for this summer season. I have always loved crochet because my mother makes some really warm scarves and blankets out of it, and I recently took it up as a hobby. Though my crochet skills are nothing near what it takes to make some of these beautiful items I still love them just as much. Crochet is now hitting mainstream from the runway to your closet and I’m super glad that someone took a second look at their grandmothers doilies and put these threads to use!

Now I don’t know everything there is to know about amazing crochet but its even hit the runway so I had to include some of the incredible designers who are really putting it to the test. The top photo is by Japanese designer Keita Maruyama from his AW 2010/11. Read more about this designer and others really doing cool things with crochet at http://positivelycrochet.blogspot.com/2011/09/more-crochet-on-runway.html

The Tom’s black crochet shoes I actually own and rock with everything from sweet summer dresses to skinny jeans. They are comfortable but still super stylish and cute I get compliments on them ALL the time and am considering buying them in multiple colors before they stop making them. Plus I always love Toms for doing their One for One program.

This Sabine Crochet Poncho top is all beautiful boho with none of the grandma you sometimes get when it comes to crochet clothing. Find it at for a steal. I’d wear it with bright skinny jeans, wedge sandals and super giant sunglasses and maybe a floppy hat but that’s just me. For a easier styling just stick to neutrals and you’ll be set for summer!

So excited to be doing a photoshoot with my good friend Adriene Freeman who is an amazing stylist starting his line of desinger scarves made out of vintage t shirts! We have two super hot models to help and the product couldn’t be better. Get ready to buy up all the awesomeness once it hits our etsy and the website at www.adrienefreeman.com in a few weeks.

Above are a few photos of the amazing scarves!

Man I love this. Thank you for whoever did the work and put it together. I wish this was my idea! Check out her blog above by clicking the link!

Amazing find my friends. Though if I wore this I feel like I should be going to the olympics or sweating to the oldies with Richard Simmons. But that doesn’t mean I don’t effing love it!

This blog is AMAZING. I love it. Everyone should just spend an hour everyday looking at all of the historical dresses they have. I’ve never seen such a complete collection. You can learn a lot in a short amount of time doing this.

So I’ve become an overnight HUGE fan of The Hunger Games. If you haven’t read them go see the movie it will get you interested. I hadn’t even heard of them until the movie came out and I heard there was amazing costuming. WHICH THERE IS> AKA Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket. LOVE her. But then I went and read the other books which were even more intense and equally heart wrenching as fast paced. If you need a summer read that you don’t want to end please check these books out.

Also they held a contest for Hunger Games t-shirt designs. The winning design is now being sold on the hnger games fan website.

I love this design and if I actually wore t-shirts I would be sporting one to the next movie. Except I don’t want to be THAT girl. I’m nerdy enough as it is. But maybe you dig it. I wouldn’t blame ya.
